    Responsibilities and Qualifications

    Position Description:

    The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the dealership's accounting books and records, with a specific focus on prepaid assets, establishing and monitoring accruals, preparing weekly cash deposits, reconciling accounting schedules, preparing both recurring and non-recurring journal entries and reconciling balances and cash sweeps. In addition, the accountant is tasked with preparing the analysis of certain expense accounts, preparing responses to requests from both our internal and external auditors and with other quarter-end activities that come with being part of a publicly traded company.  To succeed in this position you need to have a thorough understanding of accrual-based accounting and US GAAP, the ability to work independently, be a quick study, must have a positive attitude and a desire to learn.

    Essential Requirements:

    • Understanding of accrual-based accounting and US GAAP
    • Ability to work as an individual and as part of a team
    • Ability to comfortably interact with department heads, dealership personnel and vendors
    • Desire to own and improve processes
    • Strong communication skills with internal and external customers

    Daily Responsibilities:

    • Prepare and update recurring monthly journal entries
    • Post intercompany journal entries between DSC and Dealerships
    • Maintain and reconcile key balance sheet accounts
    • Prepare month-end schedules and analyses
    • Prepare weekly bank deposits
    • Assist in preparing month-end close documentation
    • Provide support to the auditors for the year-end audit and quarterly reviews
    • Other tasks as assigned

    Education, Skills and Experience:

    • 3 - 5 years of work experience
    • Experience with CDK Dealer Management System
    • Detail oriented, team player, and excellent time management skills
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
